Do You Get Out of the House Much, Your Excellency?

"The Minister for Family of the Papal Government, Cardinal Antonelli, told me a few days ago in Zaragoza that UNESCO has a program for the next 20 years to make half the world population homosexual. To do this they have distinct programs, and will continue to implant the ideology that is already present in our schools." -- Demetrio Fernández, Bishop of Córdoba.

  1. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! :: SNORT ::

    In all seriousness, though, I'm stunned that there are people who still think like this in 2012.

  2. Being that out of touch with reality would be a trip!

    Since I'm not crazy, I know that you can't make people gay, much less half of the world. However, it may be a relief to the Cardinal to know that I've been to a Katy Perry concert, and a half gay population was nothing less than delightful. :)

  4. @ Michelle: Good point! What would it really matter if half the world was gay?

  5. If only!!! Think of the drop in population and the rise in wicked humor.

    1. Spot on! Not to mention, there might be a rise in politeness. Years ago, I worked for a brief while in a gay bar as a waiter. I never met a better, more polite crowd of drunks in my life.

  6. Sledpress beat me to the punchline.

    I wish this were true. I see absolutely nothing negative in 50% of the population being gay. In fact there would be a long list of lovely positives (as long as most of them aren't in the closet and taking out their self-loathing on everyone else).

    1. I never have understood self-loathing, but I suspect it comes more from taking on the values of society than from anything else. If half of us were gay, there might be much less self-loathing.

  7. Maybe we're all half gay to begin with. As individuals, I mean. Don't you think sexuality is a spectrum?

    1. I wrestle with that one, Garnet. On the one hand, I have only once in my life felt attracted to someone of my own gender and that individual was exceptionally feminine. So I'm not inclined to think there's much of a spectrum there. But on the other hand, my experience is only anecdotal, and I have no idea what other people experience.

    1. Dangerous is right, Pjevs! He's got an audience, and many in his audience will believe him.

  9. Where was that UNESCO program when I needed it 25 years ago? Being a hetero female definitely grinds me down. Oh, wait, maybe that's because I'm a hetero female in a world full of idiots like the Cardinal.
