And ...It is true that emotion <i>can</i> cloud judgement. And often it does. And sometimes that's a good thing (such as overlooking the faults of someone because you love them).<br /><br />That's an interesting study you reference, but if we were better in understanding ourselves, it may not be that surprising. Our vernacular seems to point to emotions in decisions. How often do we say "I feel" or "I like" when making decisions? Back when I worked in an engineering office, we would often half-joke about getting a "warm, fuzzy feeling" about a particular design.<br /><br />For humans, I think emotions are the difference between color versus black-and-white, where emotion can be an enriching aspect. From that study, obviously they are necessary too. For AI, I think that there will be a strong drive for programmed emotion, if for no other reason than to drive sales.<br /><br />It will be exciting to see what does come in the next 30! :-)TWFhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06016277303703254572noreply@blogger.com
